Hi all

My questions:
Is this species very aggressive?
What water params do they like?
Are they very rare in the hobby?
Where do they come from?

Greetings,
Piotr

Yes, they're very very aggresive. The water condition
follows the usual one: pH ~ 5-6, soft water... they are
pretty easy to keep BUT i find it difficult to pair them up...
there is one pair in my tank now while i have to put the
male fish in jail from time to time to avoid his killing of the
female .... maybe today i will release him again but ...

This just happened & it might help with the aggression problem. I separated my Blue-line Agassizii pair with a commercial tank devider. The female had a very small brood (4 or 5) that I thought the male was eating. These fry disappeared & a few days later I saw a plaque of about 30 eggs wiggling on a piece of bamboo on the female's side of the tank. It seems that the pair spawned successfully with the divider between them. This method has been used of large Central American substrate breeders in the past. It might work for aggressive dwarf cichlid species, too.
