My lfs has a pair of 'A. sunset norberti' and 'A. glaser'. What do you know about either of these two. No listing in the 'Romer Atlas' or the 'Apisto list' archives.

farm41,
Originally exported a few years ago under the name Sunset Norberti, this is the same fish as the Sunset, A. sp."Atahualpa" (Llanchama form). Many wholesalers and LFS (that can actually get them on occasion) still refer to them by this name. They can be mean little buggers, so take note before you purchase. But do consider it, because they are a very nice apisto and still pretty rare.

A sp."Glaser" or "Glazer" is the good old A. sp."Maulbruter", or mouthbrooder, Burstband, etc. Pretty much the same deal as the Sunset - mean, but very interesting, pretty and rare. @ good choices for you and very unusual for a LFS to carry.

Thanks Neil,

Does that mean they will need to be in their own private tank? Or can they be in a community dwarf tank? What size of tank to these fish need? My isolation/breeding tanks are 10g.

I just can't help myself sometimes, I want to bring all the new ones home.

I don't blame you. I've got about 25 species of apistos and when I see one in the LFS I am always tempted to buy, even if I already have it. And those 2 are good ones!!
Any apisto can go into a community, but THEY need to be watched. I have had fairly mellow A. atahualpa and maulbruter, but that is not the norm. I have bred both of them in a 15g. and, although it got a little rough, they were OK. I would try the maulbruter in the 10 and atahualpa in the community. The 10 might be too small a space for the female to escape the males attention.
