anyone can share their experience on breeding this apisto??? hows the aquarium setup..the water ...etc!! i just bought a pair and will arrive tomorrow!!

these i have found easy to breed , see my post in your ermenopyge query , as they are on the same system
i found that bitaeniata's were the first of a new batch of fish to breed and continued to then do so repeatedly in the same tank only to have elder fry predating the younger batch's

This is a blackwater species. You will need soft, acid water to breed them with good results. I also found that the eggs & fry are less likely to be eaten if you leave a small 3W light on at night. Every dwarf cichlid book discusses this fish. Check one of these.

I have found that they take to just about any water primes. I want to throw at them. I moved my pair from a tap water tank. To a RO tank with no proplums at all. I have found that once the female has picked her mate she sems to fellow him every where he goes.

Here's my little female in breeding colors. She turns this dark yellow. I had thought she'd turn a little yellow but no . The yellow is a turly bright yellow.
