The Oklahoma Aquarium Association will hold it's March meeting this Saturday from 5pm-8pm at Joe Anderson's house. Professional breeder and long time ACA guy John Hansen of JJ's Tropaqutics will be our guest speaker and we'll have our usual auction afterwards. We'll have snacks and drinks too...
Guess I should let you know what's going on at this meeting.
Some of you have heard of Peter Unmack, others will want to come to
find out more.
Mr. Unmack is researching native Oklahman species this year and has
offered to discuss his research with us, as well as field questions
on his...

This is what was sold at our last auction, one of the best reasons for attending OKAA meetings. BAP means Breeders Award Points...
I was thinking about that too. I knew eucalyptus had an oil in it, but outside of the Geophagus site, I'd never heard of anybody using it. The tea oil is what Melafix is made of, so it might not be all bad. I might have to experiment on some tetras or something to find out for sure.
Still...
I've got a friend here in Oklahoma that's wondering about using dried Magnolia leaves like you'd use Almond or Oak leaves. Anybody tried that before? I did a search, but the one hit I got never actually mentioned using them in a tank.
Also wondering for myself about Eucalyptus leaves. I saw...
I went to the ACA auction. The only dwarves I noticed were some very nice looking male rams and a few Tanganyikan shelldwellers (gold occies, brevis). I went home with some Geophagus "bahia red" and some firemouths. The auction was probably 70% or more Rift Lake cichlids. My buddy got a bag of...
I'll give another vote to multifasciatus. Your requirement list sounded like you were describing multies. If you get the cichlid sand, just do small water changes. I sold some F1's to a guy awhile back. They couldn't have been over an inch long at the time. He had fry within a few months. I've...
A 20g long costs about $20-$25 at Petsmart. The glass top costs about $20. I'm not sure of the cost for a strip light, but it doesn't seem possible to compare to your price quotes of $130-$180.
I thought Island went out of business? I'm pretty sure the last 20g long I bought at Petsmart was a...
If you're talking about the one I brought up last summer then she didn't kill her mate. He was killed by a loach, that then took after her. She was a bit of a bully with smaller fish though.
It's funny. Their discus prices aren't noticibly different from what I see here. The wild discus price seems pretty good. The only problem is that they clearly don't know what they're talking about, so I wouldn't buy from them no matter what.
Congratulations. The weird part is that even though it seems to take a long time to reach the first 1000, the next 1000 will probably be added in half the time.
They're just moving into the store, the company itself has been around for quite awhile. I haven't bought directly from them, but they sold a bunch of stuff at the TCA auction in April. I bought a very nice large pair of Protomelas spilonotus "Mara Rocks" and 4 Aulonocara maisoni "Chinteche"...
I was really surprised to hear he was still alive, let alone on the run. His name has been such a major part of the hobby it seems like he would be much older than 76.

Have you tried anyone at Rocky Mountain Cichlid Association? They're hosting the ACA this year, you might find some at the auction.
Will the Real "Krib" Please Stand Up?
It must have been all of that cursing I did in my previous post.
So the bottom line is that P. pulcher, P. taeniatus and P. taeniatus "Kienke" are all "kribs" while the other Pelviacachromis species are not. I think the kribs my friend has are...
I used to have an Apistogramma steindachneri that had the hots for my female roloffi. Nothing ever came of it, but they definitly looked like they were interested in each other. 8O
