Doesn't look like borellii to me?

Thanks, Mike - I appreciate your thoughts. If I can get any clearer pictures, I'll post. Every A. borellii female I've owned has looked like my first pic, but they were all the "opal" color variant. This one is the "blue" color variant - I wasn't sure if there was much difference in the...

Doesn't look like borellii to me?

Hi All - This has been bothering me for awhile now. I have kept several "opal" variety of apistogramma borellii. The females have always looked like this: This past Sept, I ordered a pair of borellii from a seller on aquabid, and the female looks different from what I'm used to. I've never had...

    2 Pair in a 4 ft tank?

Thanks, Bart - Agreed! I just wanted to make it clear that I'm planning a community tank. I've kept borellii in the past and I've never gotten past eggs in my ph of 8.1 water (so my female never chased anyone away for more than a couple days). I plan to set things up to give max space on...

    2 Pair in a 4 ft tank?

Yes - thanks for your reply - I chose A. borellii because I think they are the most mellow and most tolerant apistos. I don't think I'd try this with any other species of apisto - at least not any other of the popular one's that are easy to find. I'd also add both pairs at the same time.

    2 Pair in a 4 ft tank?

Mainly looking for clarification here... I have a 33 gal long tank that's the same footprint as a standard 55 gal (48" x 12"), just not as tall. For a community (not breeding) tank, could I stock 2 pair of A. borellii as long as I have plenty of broken sight lines, etc? Since I'm not...

    Borellii Opal Female?

@Mike Wise as far as I know, it's domestic bred. I was wondering if it was possibly the Steel Blue hybrid variety?

    Borellii Opal Female?

Let me be clear with my question(s): 1) Does this look to be A. Borellii? 2) Is it a female? Thanks! Jeff

    Borellii Opal Female?

Looking for a positive ID. I bought this fish a little over 9 months ago (not sure how old it was at that point, but it was a little over an inch when I got it) as an Apisto Borellii opal unsexed juvenile. It's now about 1.75 inches. It has never been kept with any other apistos so I can't...

    A. Borellii in 29 gal

Mike - thanks for you reply. I thought if I had a chance with any apposite, it would be borellii. I think I'll just enjoy the pair I have then (and eventually put a pair in my 15 gal too ;)

    A. Borellii in 29 gal

Hi - my first post here. I've got a pair of A. Borellii in a 29 gal (30" x 12" footprint) along with 5x albino cories, 1x honey gourami, and 6x white clouds. I have no intention of breeding them (not sure if they even would with my pH of 8.0). I'm wondering if it's possible to have another...
