You ever get a fish and you are so excited you cant stand it?? And then they die?? And then lo and behold they arent dead an d they spawn???:) These re the moments you live for. not only have they spawned but the male has turned out to be one in a million. I have had three males like this, a Juruensis, a hongsloi, and now this guy. they just do such a good job of protecting their territory and handling the female>

haven't made that level yet I'm still stoked about my 10 or 15 Cauc babies that have made it to the 10 gal grow out and those trip reds you sold me well the reason I? the one female was they've been real aggressive towards each other and today she laid eggs now that was almost as exciting as finding the fire reds.Man I see wanting more and more. They're all so beautiful where do you stop?I think running into you was something that has brought me to another world. And hopefully I will look forward to meeting you and chewing the **** about fish but if its meant to be it will be

Old name, David.....
Römer & Hahn described this species in 2006, and gave it the name Apistogramma rositae.

Hi Dave,

Very nice.
I have had similar experience with annual Killiefish.
Sometimes you wait 3 or 4 months and nothing hatches out but sometimes I will only get 2 or 3 fish and many times they turned out to be a pair. Some theorize that raising 2 Killiefish fry together tends to result in a pair.
That is a bit like the Amphiprion Clown Fish.

It has also happened enough times with Apistogramma that has made me wonder if there isn't something to it, too.
With so many Apistogramma spawns there are a preponderance of males so it makes getting a pair from 2 or 3 fry seem more complex than skewed sex ratios.
The favorable results among so few fish is bucking the odds if probability alone is at work.

Apistogramma rositae is a nice addition to your fish farm. Best of success to you.
