WC Apistogramma sp. "Ipiranga" mouth incubator!!!

WC Apistogramma sp. "Ipiranga" from from western Brazil, She is incubating in her mouth, this new species is another one that belongs to the mouthbrooding group, I hope she releases them soon, I had to remove the male because he became very violent with her.

So far mine don't seem interested in breeding. I have a male and several females in a 65 (48x16); they behave almost pair like with the male and dominant female spending most of their time together almost pair like. The temp is ~80 as i believe they are an equator fish and the water condition is tds 40 and ph likely mid 5's.

I thought the other female was nesting but they never showed up with frys.

Give them time, mine also took a while to pair up.

Mouthbrooding isn't a real surprise since it is a member of the barlowi-complex where mouthbrooding is a common behavior (sometimes).

I think it's the same thing
