Hi there,

Im am very much in doubt, about what to do..

As you can see on the attached image, i bought my first A. Cacatuoides about 4 months ago.
The guy at the petstore told me, when i ask im about the small/lack of pelvic fins, that they will slowly grow out again.
Nothing have happend since then, and I feel like a naive i*****, for listening to this guy.
Before I judge him, I would like to ask you guys what you think? Is it even possible for the fish???
Next up, Im in doubt what to do.. I really want a complete nice fish, without such a lack of character.
I have a moral issue just euthanizing him for the lack of pelvic fins - on the other hand, I havent been able to give him away, since noone have shown interest in him.
I could take him back to the fishstore, but that wont do any good for him either (at least I think so)..

Oh well - I need some opinions..

Sadly, to me at least, it looks like atrophy of the pelvic fins and not physical damage. Since this is a genetic problem I would expect that it will be passed on to at least some of its offspring. If it were my fish, it would go into my 'geriatric tank' where it would live out its days relatively peacefully. I'd definitely not try to use it as a breeder. If you don't have such a tank, then euthanasia is the best option for you (not the fish).

I'll find a new home for the guy, and see what happens!

Oh well.. Next time I'll have to find a private quality breeder, and get some decent fish..
At least now I know what to look for..

Thanks for the response Mike!
