Hello

Could you help me identify this species ?

sold as lineata, but looks more like mendezi santa isabel ?

we can see quite a bit of orange on the codal and anal fins

Sometimes, e.g. when you have a picture of domestic A. macmasteri with the caption "A. viejita", which usually doubles to triples the price.

In this case: Ignorance, stupidity, lack of information. Because in terms of price there is not really a difference. Most shops have several price categories. From cheap tankbred domestic breeds, to tankbred wild forms, to common wild caughts, to wild caught rarities. And the one you've got and the species listed and tagged would be in the same category usually. How much did you pay?

Given how unrelated the pictured species is to the sent fish I would request a refund. The fish you received is not a bad fish but it is certainly not the one you ordered. Having said that had you recieved a. lineta i doubt it would be that colourful.

Of course, the purchase contract, if you will, should be null and void. But I don't really know the laws in France, we have generally strong customer protection laws in Germany, as France is also EU, this should be possible.

I paid 119€ for the couple, the fish on their site is generally higher than the others.
but i would never have accepted to pay that price for a couple of mendezi, especially when another store offers them for 60€ a couple.

An exceptional and very rare apistogramma! Easily adapts to small and medium-sized aquariums.

It is found in the Rio Atapabo, on the Venezuelan-Colombian border.

This is one of the rarest and most coveted apistogramma by aquarists worldwide.

We had to negotiate hard with our local contact to obtain a few pairs to offer our customers.

If you're looking for an elegant fish, different from what you can find on the usual market, we can only recommend this species.

From a purely aquaristic point of view, this little fish should be kept in pairs.

As with all apistogramma, the female is much smaller and less colorful than the male.

Accustomed to environments rich in hiding places, it will be more at ease in a well-planted aquarium where it will feel as sheltered as in its natural environment.

I'll wait a few days to see if they reply to my e-mail, then I'll send a registered letter.
and i'm not going to hesitate to take the matter to the fraud department, clearly it's not a simple misnomer. there's a real desire to deceive.

hi, no they never answered me.
i sent them a registered letter, with formal notice, asking them to reimburse me up to the price i would have agreed to pay if i had known about the real species.

I'm waiting now

I doubt you'll get a response. I'd probably just have demanded my money back and mentioned talking to my lawyer. After that I'd have just given them a bad review in the most important forums and on google and called it a day. Of course boycotting the store from that point on.

I received the confirmation of receipt today.
I'm waiting to see if they reply before posting a bad comment.
In France, there's a government site for reporting online sales scams, and you can then appeal to a mediator if the company doesn't reply.
I'm going to tell them that the bad publicity I'm going to give them will cost them more than a partial refund.
we'll see
