What kind of filters do you use in your apisto tanks?

Are canister filters ok? My filter is just not doing the job it used to so I've been looking into getting a new filter. It's a 38g planted tank. Right now I'm using an ac300.

Yes, canister filters are just fine for apisto tanks. I'd recommend an appropriately sized Eheim or ViaAqua brand for your 38-gallon aquarium.

A HOT magnum is pretty good on that size tank too.

I'm real happy with my filstar xp2, I bought it for a 55g and when I traded it out for a 75g the xp2 stayed, it has done a beautiful job on the 75, even with 10 juvenile discus and a couple of apisto's, the water is crystal clear.
