My 'conversation' with @Frank Hättich indicates they are up to 4 species being called Ladisalo; being clueless I am going to speculate they are 4 different species not 4 colour forms of the same species. This is the blue form I got from Alex; i believe @miguelgr7 also purchased the ones Alex was selling but perhaps i am mistaken; to my eye the fishes just don't look the same - perhaps it is the anal fin on my fish seems a bit longer in ratio the fish body; also the black marking on the top don't go as far along the body with the red fish above having 7 or 8 stripes mine only has 4 stripes (the black tick marks just below the dorsal fin). Something just looks different. I will say compared to some of the other fish i have this little fellow adopted quite quickly; i still haven't gotten a good look at two of the a. wolli who continue to hide after a month. Here https://www.tomc.no/page.aspx?PageID=60
It is mentioned that there are 2 different colorations, I think yours is "2"
Now that's happening to the pair I have; it's been over 8 months since I've seen any fry from them. The female spawns, but in the end, nothing comes of it. I'll keep waiting. One of my female laid eggs but they were clearly not fertilize; and as far as i could tell the male did not attempt to fertilize them. None of the other females have laid eggs as far as i can tell. I have 3 females with one male in a 40b and 1 male with 1 female in a 29. No clue why they refuse to breed.
I have them at 5.4 pH and 75 TDS; previously, there were two spawnings with those parameters, both with positive results. It would help to know your water parameters. The species is found in moderate black water so minimal water hardness and a pH around 6 should work. This is a nijsseni-group species and most have a reputation for being choosy about breeding partners.
My EC is below 40; ph i presume is below 6. My wc nijsseni spawn in an aquarium with harder water without any encouragement in less than a month of ownership (they were extremely young with the male under 1.25 inch and his tail colours still forming). the female looked younger but harder to tell.It would help to know your water parameters. Funny I acquired another male because my first one is reclusive as well. I thought he might be sick but he looks perfectly healthy and quite colorful when he does occasionally show himself. My a. ladisalo have been in their respective aquariums for over 18 months. The females in the 40 have 'territory' and if a female crosses territory she will sometime get flared at but virtually no violence. In the 29 the male is so reclusive i'm lucky to see him once every 2 or 3 months so i think he is still alive but who knows. He is the larger of the two males i have and really quite a specimen 'cept that he almost never shows himself.
Yea my other one is not that reclusive and i see him every day.Funny I acquired another male because my first one is reclusive as well. I thought he might be sick but he looks perfectly healthy and quite colorful when he does occasionally show himself. The new one is much more outgoing so far.
The funny thing is when i watch them like this morning. The female clears an area and I believe wants to breed but the male seem to lack interest and ignore her. I always though the male would accommodate a willing female ?I guess I should have been more specific. I was asking Ayazad about his water values. As for those with favorable values but no success, it could be for many reason from tank placement and decor to just not having a compatible breeding pair.
