Mine don't seem interested in romance :( Maybe a 65 is too large for them ?
Probably a very big tank I don't know but in my experience with them, before I also had them in a large 40 gallon tank and there were no successful spawnings, when I put the pair in a 10 gallon tank then the magic began, this is happening to me with all the species I have that is why I keep them all in pairs in 10 gallon tanks, the results are successful for example currently I have wolli, megastoma, barlowi, rocafuerte, cf. cacatuoides, ladislao and D3 fry growing in 10 gallon tanks where they were born, I am trying with a D50 pair in a long 20 gallon tank and so far there are no successful spawnings, I am going to try moving the D50 pair to a 10 gallon tank to see if in that tank they can have successful spawnings.

Try it and see if it gives you better results.

I might - i have to get my mesonauta egregius frys out of the 10 first. My a wolli breed constantly in a 29; my a. ladisalo spawned once in a 40b BUT the eggs were clearly not fertilize.

I have the ipiranga in ec 40 water @ 79 just in case that is an issue. Not sure why the ec is so high - the ec seems a bit random from just below 20 to mid 40 in my aquariums (I have 15 blackwater aquariums from 200 gallons to 10 gallons the 180 is ec 19-21 and the 40b is around 40.
---
Anyway assuming it isn't water condition i'll see if i can net them the problem is once i start chasing them they might become impossible to catch without removing all the hardscape as there is overlapping driftwood caves where htey can scoot under (I in these larger aquariums i make caves by allow driftwood to overlap each other - i'm talking about pieces that are 20+ inches long).
