A cruzi-like fish with a "split" caudal spot could be A. sp. Putumayo (A. sp. Algodon II) A85/A86.

There are several apistos that have this "notched" caudal spot. Based on the other dark markings, I would guess that it is a eunotus-complex species, possibly A. cruzi or A. sp. Putumayo. At least the cheek stripe, lateral band width, and dorsal blotches are the same. Do you have a male that we can see?

and what if I say that it was caught in french guyana?

it was caugt there by the person I bought it from.
however after observing the fish for a time, I was looking at the caudal spot and was not sure anymore.

thats why I posted the picture.
I'm very surprised to hear mostly peruvian apisto's

maybe a bit dark but here are some more pics.

It looks much like A. cf. gossei (A-51). A. gossei is an unusual fish. It is the only speices from the east coast of South America that shows many eunotus-like features. There is another group of Brazilian fish from the upper Rio Madeira that show similar characteristics, but don't seem to be genetically related to A. eunotus, either. Perhaps they form a species-complex with A. gossei.

thats what I thought it was, A. gossei
I gave some specimens to Dr Römer, we'll see what it he has to say.
do you think the caudal spot is a born aberrant?

what upper rio madeira group of fish do you mean?
and will this mean there might come another complex within the regani group?
