Wanted to Buy: Curviceps that look like this...

This fish was sold to me as Curviceps. It is actually a Male Dorsigera. Note the red tip of the dorsal goes all the way to the back (no white). Also, the black dot at the base of the dorsal does not contain any gold spangles.

I am looking for several of these and willing to pay top dollar, including shipping.

With help from @Mike Wise, all male L. dorsigera do not necessarily look as I pictured.

The appearance of spangles in the dorsal black spot may not indicate a female. This has just been proven to me by a second pair that have laid eggs. These eggs appear to be viable...time will tell!

I believe the solid red fringe on the dorsal is still a good indication of a dorsigera as opposed to curviceps.

Mike also pointed out to me that not all dorsigera are "redbreast". Some are "blackbreast"!

I believe in a given catch location all females will have the same number of dots in the dorsal fin and all males will have a different but same number of dots. However different catch locations the number of dots may differ (or i've been told). Most domestic dors sold as cuvi are blue/black like this pair:

Here you can clearly see the color and dots. My wc dors are red.
