Bought this fish from my LFS. Origin is Czech. They were labelled as A.sp viejita which is wrong anyway. I think its a macmasteri do you agree.

I think it's a macmasteri, I'm no expert but from what I understand they're all macmasteri and viejita is hardly ever seen in the hobby.

I visited a fish shop yesterday where they sell fish labelled as viejita and fish labelled as macmasteri. People in the shop were more than willing to tell me the difference between the two species ("more or less red in the tail") but I think they're all the same. It's a mystery to me why they are still called viejita...

It's a very pretty fish nevertheless! I also have a macmasteri sold as viejita and he's a real beauty but quite old now.

Yes, your fish are a domestic strain of A. macmasteri. Stores still sell them as "A. viejita" because that is the name under which they bought them. Most commercial breeders don't read our forum - and don't really care as long as the fish sell.:)

Yes take no notice of that Raymond... They most likely stock Czech bred fish who generally export the same fish under the two different species names.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
