I have some apisto cac triple red. I was just wondering how people usually go about selling there fish. Is it better to take them to a fish store or on this site or Craig’s list. I would have to travel to San Diego which is an hour away and fish stores close to me will only adopt fish. Any advice would be helpful.

You'll earn more $$ by selling them yourself than selling to a pet store. Think retail vs. wholesale. The down side is that you have many more 'hoops to jump trough' - multiple shippings with associated bagging, boxing, and (normally) some kind of live arrival guarantee. Most pet store demand adult, good-sized, fish and normally pay about 1/3 to 1/2 of their retail price. Often they prefer to give store credit instead of $$. You have to decide if the hassles of retail sales are worth it to you.

Thank you very much for your input. I don’t plan on shipping just a way of selling locally. I think for now I will just off load them at fish store so I can clear up a few aquariums. I appreciate all your help.

What is your nearest aquarium club? Most of them have auctions in spring and fall, and this is a good way to sell Apistos, as you are getting a group of buyers that are a little more knowledgeable about what you are selling.

A lot of clubs have swap meets these days, where you rent table space and sell your fish for a price that you set. Basically a one day retail store.
