hello,

I'm planning a trip to Suriname.
any suggestions where to go for apistogramma's or other dwarf cichlids?

I know Ap.steindachneri is native to this country but are there any other species over there?

is there anyone who maybe has photo's of the Suriname steindachneri.
my books only show other catching places(romer, koslowski and the new datz)

greetings,

Wouter

Jeff Cardwell & Alf Stahlsberg both collected A. steindachneri in Surinam this year. They look much like the form from Guyana. The only other apisto known to come from Surinam is A. ortmanni. Nannacara anomala also comes from Surinam. I highly recommend finding a copy of Kullander & Nijssen's book "The Cichlids of Surinam". It is filled with a wealth of collecting information on all of the cichlids in Surinam.

Hi, I use to collect in Surinam where it's easy to catch A. steindachneri (the typical form and an other with a truncated caudal fin), Nannacara anomala and other interesting Cichlids species (like Crenicichla spp., Geophagus spp...). To catch A. ortmanni, who have to spend a very long time on the nasty road to Apoera (Corantijn river system).

If you go to Albina, it's easy to take Nannacara aureocephalus in French Guyana.

Yes, it would be VERY okay,... mildly said:rolleyes:
However, through sudden changes of 'future plans' I decided not to go :frown: I Really hoped to go but it is just not possible.
In about 4 years there is another trip planned:tongue:
Don't know if this is going to be Surinam.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
