Over the weekend I first joined the forums to ask about A.macmasteri. I did eventually purchase them that day. They've been thriving in my 30 gal for 2 days now. Very active when I'm not near the tank. I have 2 whiptail cats in there with them along with a couple of danios. I bought 1 pair. To get to the question. They are unbelievably shy. I've purchased a lot of fish over the years and usually if I still have them healthy come day 2/3 they come up to see me when I come in for feeding time. These little guys scamper off and only come out when I'm not near the tank any more. I am thinking they are just getting over new tank environs, but something keeps nagging me about the way they disappear. I'll just give them some time. Is this species typically shy or are they just too new to tell?

I think they just need time to get used to the new environs.

Agree. Hmm, one way to help is to reduce the brightness of the
lamp and to provide dark wall papers surrounding three sides of the tank
(all are temporary measures). Do give the fish a few days to settle... :)

Yeah I should have given them time before I got scared. They are doing fantastic! The big one, which I think is the female, has all ready chosen its location a large cave split in half by another rock. She'll alternate between the 2 but one only has minimal access which she seems to like the most. She comes out to eat and has even come up to the side of the tank to see me. They weren't very colorful when I picked them up at the LFS but she is starting to show some red in her cheeks and from what it looks like maybe even some blue? Then again I'm partially colorblind so this could all be my imagination. Hehe. Thanks so much for the info.
