Ok so I have been growing out some of these guy and I managed to get a pair. they have been in breeding color for about a week, so two days ago i added a piece of drift wood and today i look in the tank and they laid eggs on the driftwood and are guarding the eggs. the are in a 20 long with a pair of egyptian mouth-brooders and other Ruweti. My question is when the eggs hatch do i keep the fry with the parents or separate the fry

What I normally do if I am unsure is suck some out with a turkey baster to raise myself and leave the rest with the parents. If they eat what is left you still have some. Though I would get the other fish out of the tank.

I spawned ruweti a few times before passing on my breeders and juvies to other hobbyists. I found mine to be terrible parents, who always ended up eating their eggs. After three failed attempts, I started pulling the eggs every time they spawned. I used a customized egg tumbler (very low mesh width), because the eggs are tiny.

I decided to keep the fry with the parents since this is the first spawn and they are excellent parents guarding the fry and everything

Let me know when you have some available. Being that we are so close maybe we can trade. I have a nice batch of A. njisseni coming up, and some melgar, and LF albino bristlenoses too. Also breed angels!
