I heard from my friend that the situation of Apistogramma in nature is become worst. (especially last year till this year)
That's why , we (Apistogramma fanclub in Thailand) could not get wild apistogramma for a whole year.

Thus, anyone has information about current situation would be appreciate:biggrin:

Thanks

Very strange. Wild shipments of apistos are still arriving regularly in the US & Europe from Peru, Colombia, and a few locations in Brazil. I agree that some habitats in South America are more endangered, but certainly not all.

I will tell this to my friend. Actually we have been waiting for the shipment of Mendezi , Abacaxis and Elizabethae from Germany, Czech Republic and Hongkong. None of them have those fish on the list. That s why my friend (importer) told me that the situation of the fish in nature is not good. The breeder from aforementioned countries could not find the new blood fish therefore it is very hard for us to order them

So it is possible that apistogramma in our "wished list" are more endangered , as Mike said.

I think that Vintage has the same problem as we generally have in the US. Many of the Brazilian exporters restrict their fish first to their better customers. When any are still available, then they are offered to other buyers. Sounds like a sensible business practice to me - even if it does mean I don't see these fish often enough. BTW Brazil doesn't export as many unusual (= low demand) species as they once did. They are even restricting the numbers of exporters who can collect/ship fish out of the country.

Interesting information. It's sad we Thai fishkeepers are not preferred customers. I guess our market is way too small.
