The search for Apistogramma viejita

Does anyone have any or know where get Apistogramma viejita. i live in Maryland. willing to go to Virginia and DC. Also online

Hi Jonathan,

It's generally accepted the there are few or no viejita in the hobby at this stage. Basically the are a where they are found is controlled by cocaine farmers and FARC, so not many people are willy to go in and collect them. (Hate to think what the cocaine production is doing to the streams they are found in).

All fish these days sold as viejita are a line bred (commercial strain) of A. macmasteri.

If you do a search of the apisto id section of the forum, you will find a few posts where this is mentioned, there is one that Mike Wise goes in to a little more depth about the situation.
