Sp papagai / Apistogramma ortegai

I currently own a really nice pair of the lovely Apistogramma ortegai. I am trying to find information as in how their biotope would look like. Sadly i can't find any information on their catch location or on there biotope. All the information is welcome.

This is exactly what i wanted to know! Sadly they swim in a planted tank now but their habitat is not planted

Most apistos are found in waters with very few plants. Still, I imagine they are happy with the planted community tank, but realize it isn't a true breeding tank.

Oh no i don't want to breed them, they live in my community tank with some otto's, some neon tetra stimulans and nannostomus eques

Where did you buy them??? (I can take the pair and breed them..)

I bought them at Utaka in Amersfoort in the netherlands. According to their stocklist yesterday they should still have one pair left.

I love apistogramma and planted tanks. Although the two do not usually fit together "naturally" one way I found to address this problem is to make a riparium with terrestrial plants above the water line
