Shipping season is finally here (if you don't count the snow/freezing rain/sleet/hale that came down yesterday  ) So if you would like to ge ay of the fish I have in stock shot me an email or PM along with what you are interested in, how many of each type, and your zip and I'll get you a shipping quote.

LOT'S of new fish in over the past several weeks and a few more to post on the fish list at www.aquaticclarity.com like:

Ivanacara adoketa 1 1/4"-2" $30 each or 5/$125

Mikrogeophagus altispinosa "butterfly ram" 2" $6 each

Sphaerichthys osphromenoides dwarf chocolate gourami wild 2" $8 each 6/$40 (I've had these for several months and haven't lost a single one!)

And check out the orange and tiger otos! I'll try to get pictures up in the next day or two of these guys.

How well to the gouramis ship? I've had a hell of a time finding 'live' ones locally

 I haven't shipped any of them yet myself but over the years I've found you get one of three types of chocolate gouramies...live ones, live ones that die soon, and dead ones! I got 12 of them in this time (hedging by bets) and all 12 are alive and doing well after several months now.

ahhh..i see! why are they so expensive?
Hmmm, not sure what you mean. Expensive compared to "regular" Otocinclus or to someone else selling tiger/zebra otos?

would i be able to say special order this at local petco/petsmart?
Maybe, it doesn't hurt to ask. I'm guessing that the suppliers that petco/petsmart are buying fish from don't offer tiger/zebra otos but you never know!

Fish like these are expensive as they are often found in remote locations and are only ever collected in small amounts. Traders like aquaticclarity take huge financial risks in bringing in select specimens from the wild and also need to make a living! They are not that expensive if you know what your looking at! these are rare fish in the trade, no one is mass producing them commercially so the only option is to buy wilds.

Your local petco/petsmart will never get fish like these in, these stores are aimed at beginners to the hobby and not advanced hobbiests, most stock a range of fish sourced from Commercial breeders, these are mainly farms in Asia which turn out industrial quantities of the 'easy' to breed fish like the common tetras, gouramis and livebearers..The Asians dont waste time or tank space on breeding trickier fish such as Otocinclus.

The Petsmart stores would not know specialist fish like these if they turned round and bit them, plus the young staff employed at such places would kill wild fish like these before they even left the store!!

Just my view on the situation.

crazy good!

I agree with you on the special order on them. I try getting some apisto and I guess they never have them on their list.

I "might" try asking Robin here in wausau to see if he has it on his list.. ^_^
