i visited Shedd Aquarium in 1999 and at that time, the aquarium was much smaller and with much fewer fresh-water species compared to what you saw (lucky you)!
Did you take more photos of the Amazon Rising area (during my last visit, i was told that the Amazon Area was under construction)? Were there some discus and apistos?
There were a few discus, but not a display tank of them. There was a very small tank (maybe twenty gallons) that had a label for A. macmasteri, but I could not find it. The large tank with all the cardinals and rummynose had a LOT of Dicrossus filamentosus in it.
