I'd like to locate some literature on the effects of hardness and ph on spawning in SA fish, or any papers where the results might have a bearing on our sect of the hobby. Pseudo scientific papers would be good also, but I'm really looking for journal articles and the like. If it's linkable, awesome, if not, I can still find a way to access them (sneak into local university library or something). If there is a thread already covering this I apologize.

You may want to try PubMed http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?DB=pubmed, a site that is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. It's free to the public (U.S. taxpayers pick up the check :) ). Focus is on benchtop science articles, but you'll be surprised by the wealth of information available. And the best: the website provides links to free copies of research article, if applicable.

Romer's Cichlid Atlas I is extracted from his PhD thesis, which has quite a substantial amount of scientific work with robust methodology. You may take a look.
