Well here I am raising another batch of ram fry. This time I am being VERY careful about ammonia/nitrite/nitrate. (It is 0,0,5).
They started free swimming yesterday, and are congregating at the top of the tank. It is a 2.5 g, with 2 gallons in it, RO + Ro salts. Temp 83. There is a sponge filter - well seeded. It is the smallest I could find. (About 2 in x 1.5 inches) and a very weak air pump. There is a hunk of willow moss - not as big as the last time! (I was convinced the moss had ammonia last time - maybe there was too much debris in it?)
I thought I understood from previous discussions that ram fry hang out at the bottom of the tank. (Where all the bbs and microworms currently are...) So, is something wrong? Or, do they hang out on top in the corners for a few days before they decide it is smarter to be in moss where the food is...
It would be nice to get it right this time...
Any help or advice would be really appreciated. Oh, I do turn the pump off at night, and for a couple of hours at a time during the day in case the current is the issue. So far, I can't tell any difference in the fry's behavior.
