What do you guys use to find your ph or tds/con. I am not very good at using the color charts so i was interested in purhcasing a ph tester but dont know which to buy. I know of oakton, milwaukee(sp?), hanna, and a few more but when i google for information on them they are all hydroponics sights. I am interested in breeding my bitaeniata so I need it to work at the lower ph's which they pretty much all seem to do but they all look very similar on paper so I was wondering what you guys thought. Sorry if this is in the archives i started to look but I couldnt find anything.

I use the Hanna HI 98129 Digital Combo it tests for pH, EC/TDS (same thing) & Temperature. It works great and I have been using it for a little more than a year. Got mine for about $110, I think. Look on aquabid.com and if you can't find one there look on ebay. I got mine off ebay. Make sure that you get both the PH 7.01 and PH 4.01 solutions. That makes your low PH more accurate.

As a matter of fact here is the one that I have for $105 http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?waterq&1137186961

I was actually looking at that model but I ran into a hydroponics sight that had quite a few people who thought it was crap they had problems with it not calibrating right or not at all and other stuff. I still think its the best deal out of the ones i have looked at glad to here somebody likes theres maybe its just how they use it in hydroponics?(I dont remember the sight)

That meter is, IMO, the best meter on the market. That price is an incredible price too. The Hanna suggested retail on it is $144. At $110 that is less than what I can buy them for from Hanna wholesale. I have one available, but I cannot sell it for $110.

There are several threads in this forum dealing with the meter. I have had mine for four years and only recently have had to replace the pH electrode. I calibrate it once a month, though it usually does not need it. I have never changed the battery and it is still at 85%.
