:) I do not have, nor have I worked with Dehane. I have had some recent success with Lobe and Nyete, and the trigger seems to have been to get the TDS below 100ppm. pH is 6.5.

My pair bred in a fully planted a bit crowded 40 gal tank at pH between 6 and 6.5, kH <= 1, gH = 3.5, NO3 = 10 and 25 °C.

Spawn induced by a "little shock" 5 gal RO change and temp up from 23°C to 25°C.

Spawning site coconut shell.
Dithers : pair of L curviceps, quatuor of T. occelicauda, half a dozain of A australe and 2 big amano shrimps. there were also 10 cardinalis "predators" which were netted out once free swimmers seen.

Low res pics there:

Dear Fredmir and Colin,

Je pense qu'une personne du Québec parle probablement le français! N'est-ce pas?

From my experience with them, P. taeniatus forms can be acclimated to various water parameters. Soft and acidic seems to be a prerequisite, however. My experience is the same as Colin's. I've found that they do well in a pH of about 6.0 with GH of 1-3. A temperature of about 76-degrees F. should do it.

Best of luck with these incredibly beautiful fish.

These are exactly the parameters I have now in my tank. Maybe the temp is a bit higher, because France is under heavy sunny and hot weather actually 8)

Just still wondering about sex ratio, but I hope time will tell me...

best regards,

Colin
