P. subocellatus "Moanda II"

I was searching the forum for P. subocellatus and there was mentioned that recently from Moanda area came an exceptional form, called "Moanda II" by some people. It came along with the Hemichromis sp. "Moanda". Now i have seen an importers list with both species and was thinking the subocellatus "Moanda" there might be this "Moanda II".
I would be very interested to know something about this "Moanda II" form. How does it differ from the regular "Moanda"?

Pelvicachromis subocellatus

Hello Anakonda,

Pelvicachromis subocellatus is found in Gabon south to the western part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo). The form commonly known as P. subocellatus "Moanda" is found in or around Moanda which is situated on the Atlantic coast of the DR Congo. This form has entered the US recently.

I'm not familiar with the designation P. subocellatus "Monanda II," but it sounds to me like someone is trying to coin a new name on an old fish.

Moanda II

Hi Everyone,

There is at least one exporter in the Congo using "Moanda II" for a particular color form of subocellatus. Whether or not, or how, they differ from the "standard" Moanda, I cannot definitively say. I'm personally only aware of the Moanda II coming into the US once ... the shipment was rough and there were only 3 pairs that looked like they would live; out of these 6 fish, only 2 survived. I hope Neil doesn't mind me me "spilling the beans," but I sent him those 2 fish, which I believe he spawned. (Neil: are they the ones in your site's photo gallery?)
Beatiful fish, nice purple hues.
