Hi all,

New to the forum but wanted to jump right in. I currently keep a few tanks which house a variety of fish from kribs to altums. I'm new to apistos though so I'm looking for a little advice.

I have an Oceanic 30 "cube" (20.5x18.5x21) that's heavily planted with pressurized CO2. I designed the layout with numerous "natural" caves made with the driftwood. In this tank I have T. espei, hatchets and a few small cories. I recently purchased a pair of macmasteri and am really happy with them. My main question is will the 30 support another pair or apistos? I know there is always potential for problems but due to the cave situation (at least 4 that I set-up purposely) I was hoping to have another pair.

Thanks for any advice...

Jason

You might be successful, depending on the amount of plants and hiding places. A. macmasteri can be highly territorial. There are reports of a single male claiming the entire bottom of a 2 meter (7 ft.!) long aquarium. If you do try to add another species, make it one that is differently shaped, like A. agassizii. Just keep an eye out for problems.

Wow! With reports like that I think I'll just keep the peace and enjoy them on their own.
