Hello. I am completely new to this site and it seemed like a good place to ask for some advice. I am planning on keeping a pair of dwarf cichlids along with a few dither fish in a 20 gallon tank. Is this enough tank space? I understand that they must be in neurtal to soft water, and that they need cover. That is about the extent of my knowledge. Any advice anyone could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yes a 20 gallon tank (24 x 12 x 16"H) tank works well with most dwarf cichlid species. Most prefer neutral to moderately acid water that is moderately soft. Some species will adapt to more alkaline, harder water, too. It depends on the species. Look in the "Species Profiles" section or do a "Search" for information of specific species.
