New Apisto description : Apistogramma helkeri

I found info about this new Apisto from Tom C/Martins homepage. I think it would be a good idea to put this thread in the Apistogramma forum also. (Admins choice )

Yes, an interesting fish. It reminds me of several different populations of A. hongloi (A 113, 114, and 115) but the even, non-serrated dorsal fin is unique to this species complex.

Tom C's web page is always a good place to find new and interesting info. Looking at it today I see pictures of A. guttata. This is one of my Holy Grail fish. I collected them in 1997 and 1999 in the location pictured below. This spot on the Rio Morichal Largo was an idyllic spot in a river that runs through some unattractive landscape. Although we tried in multiple locations on the river, this spot was the only place we caught them. These pictures were taken before I had a digital camera.
