Need help with what to do with a lone male Borellii

I posted here a few weeks ago about a female Iost due to an infection. Bums me out.

Now I'm kinda in a predicament with the male she left behind.

The plan was always to have a M/F Borellii pair in my "showcase tank" (29G shallow).

I also have it stocked with 15-20 CPDs, 10 Kubotais, 8 panda corys, and some neos and amanos.

After the female died, I've been wondering if maybe I add my lone male to a 10G blackwater tank with some glowlights and add another M/F pair of apistos (not necessarily Borellii)

On his own, the male just isn't adding what I wanted it too and also, as I've looked into Apistos more...some of the"sexier" varieties have caught my eye. Of course, I could get another female and just add her in...but I'm kinda soured on it and my inkling is to go with a much more colorful and behaviorally interesting Apisto.

Any ideas?

I should clarify... keep the male with the tetras in the 10 and add another pair to the 29.

Leave the male alone, it will be fine, but do not put it together with another species. A. borellii usually grow to only half to 2/3 of the size of all the other species typically found in the trade. That is not going to end well, especially in a 60cm tank.

I definitely agree with MacZ. A community tank, especially one that is your size, is not a breeding tank for apistos. Breeding causes stress for both the apistos and the other community members. Stress is a primary cause of illness. If you want to move your A. borellii to the other tetra tank that is not a problem. But adding a potential breeding pair to a community tank, especially with corys and other bottom-dwelling species, is not a good idea.
