Need help to identify

Could you help me to identify this species?? I had it under the name of Apistogramma sp "melgar" and comes from Peru but I am not sure that it is the good species.

Hi there,

I would go with Apistogramma sp 'Nanay' (Datz ref A82). It also goes under the trade name 'Melgar'

I know there is some confusion with the name Melgar/Nanay (from Mike Wise a while back):

No, you're right. A. sp. Nanay/Melgar A-82 (from the Rio Nanay) is the fish that most authors call A. sp. Nanay. Römer, however, continues to call A. sp. Papagei/Parrot A-91 (from the Rio Ampiyacu) "A. sp. Nanay". As Stawikoski et al. (DATZ Pub) wrote, "the usage of this vexing name (for A. sp. Papagei) should be stopped", to which I wholeheartedly agree.

Yes, it is A. sp. Nanay/Melgar. The yellow pectoral fins are diagnostic for this A. cruzi-like species.

thank you for these precise details, now I am sure of what I keep. But which is the difference with A. sp "algodon"?

I have also this species sold under A. sp nanay but it is not the same then which it?

It is hard to say what the fish you picture is. It does not show enough diagnostic features. It could be A. sp. Putumayo (= A. sp. Algodon II) or less colorful form of A. sp. Papagei/Parrot (= A. sp. Nanay by Römer).
