In about a week I will be down in Peru and Bolivia on a collecting trip. Packing is always a concern. Almost everything that you need must be taken with you but you need to keep the weight down and have room for fish.
I will be trying to get to places that are rarely collected. May be able to get some unusual apistos into circulation. Might get some good killifish as well since they are often found with apistos.

Being a very experienced fish collector and traveller, I'm sure that you'll pack to be prepared for both the most likely and the most unlikely scenarios!
Remember that "Every plan in South America are subject to change" ;)

Is this the time of the year when the water level is at the lowest, in these areas?

I wish you an exciting and rewarding trip!

I don't know about you or Tom, but at the end of the trip I leave most of my clothes behind as "expendable". Actually, I normally buy my clothing for the trip in second-hand stores. No sense taking anything good.

This is low water time in Bolivia and near by Peru. Certainly collecting trips start out with one set of plans which often get thrown out when you arrive. I understand that currently there are restrictions on buying gasoline as a way of dealing with the illegal gold mining. However, every trip offers new adventures and rarely are you disappointed.

Our local fish store owner Kurt fills extra space in his luggage with art supplies for the kids that are hard-to get "luxury items" in remote areas. Builds lots of good-will with the local population! He doesn't bring critters home anymore, just photos, but fills that luggage space with local carvings and crafts for the trip home.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
