Nice chubby little beauties
Thanks element; it's the first time i acquired and kept this species,
it behaves so differently from the other dwarf cichlids that i kept before...
it's rather interesting :)

This one was imported by a local aqua trader/retailer from Germany to Hong Kong. :)

Very nice, but... Now I'm a bit jealous. Not only do you have some of the top apistos, you also have the long sought after Adoketa. I have only seen these species one time and they were not for sale.. to any price.

Truly outstanding fish, how about their aggressive behaviour, is it causing you any problem?

Regards / Chris

Hi Chris, yes, somehow i feel i am lucky as we hobbyists in Hong Kong are able to buy many many kinds of dwarf cichlids all around the world. By the way,
i have heard of some news that there are A LOT OF tank-bred adoketa in the UK and SOME in Germany. You may wish to check them out and I think many fellows in this forum may have a way to get some for you. Right now, this fish is also ranked as rare in Hong Kong. :)

I've heard of some dealers in the UK having them, but they are certainly not easily obtainable here.

My friend had a couple of them which sadly turned out to be 2 females.

Here's one that I took a picture of last year and presented in a mock cover.

These are indeed beautiful fishes. I raised one from a fry and it stayed with me for about two and a half years.

Cheers,

Dear KenL and mummymonkey: So bad that you are not in Hong Kong, or else many people will chase after you to exchange male adoketa with your female!! :)

Hi Benny: Good picture. I just wonder if there is really such an issue of a magazine which contains all the topics on the mock cover you have included. If this magazine does exist, i am really interested in reading it :)

So, approximately, how much does it cost for a pair of juvaniles from the auction? :)

Hi Blueblue

The honest answer is I don't know as my fish are just being given to me at the auction from a good friend of mine who breeds them.

I see, thanks Peter. Just one further question: what is the usual price of it in the retail market in UK?

In Denmark the price is 800,- dkkr pr. pair which equals app. 130,- USD.

Thanks; then the price in Denmark is very reasonable!!
Here in Hong Kong, we could only buy a pair of
juvenile (unsex-able) of 2-3cm long at this price...

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
