Hi All,
I'm sure cacs are old hat to a lot of you but these are my 1st that hatched for me back in Dec. of last year. Parents were w/c and both are now dead. Hopefully, some of these will continue the line.

Its nice too see that someone is willing to put the effort into breeding wilds. Do you have any photos of the parents? Are you aware of the catch location? It looks to me that there is a high precentage of females. Is this just the ladies being photogenic.

Congrats. Wild ones can be tough. They have a memory of the wild and duplicating the proper conditions can be tough.

Chris

PS will you be selling the overflow of juveniles?

Unfortunately, no photos of the parents exist although both of them appeared to look very similiar to the triple reds. I picked up the pair from my LFS, and he said that the fish came in from Peru. I will try and get more details on the collecting site. I have another wild female that doesn't have a mate and so I'm hoping a male or two becomes more obvious as they get bigger. I'm still new to most of this and probably will be giving any surplus to my LFS. Apparently, there are many cacatuoides afficionados in my neck-of-the-woods and they may be interested in some of my stock as they will want to open up their bloodlines. I'm located in New England so if that helps you you can contact me offlist and I can see what we can do.

Morning Jim,

well done. Looks like they are all perfect in shape and colour. Wild ones are hard to breed as stated by Chris, as it is difficult to mimic the wild underwaterworld they came from. How many did survive from the origional batch of frys ? Cheers Jan-kurt

Hi Jan-kurt,
They never sit still long enough for me to get an accurate count, but after looking at them for the last two months, I've tried a number of times to get a rough estimate and I keep coming up with 30. Some of the fry are bigger than others, somee seem to get more food than others, but even the "puny" ones seem to be hanging in there and are growing. Can't wait till I seem some more color come thru.
Best...
