Nice to meet you. This is georgedv. I live in Easley, SC. I don't know any other aquariophils in the area except one other person in Spartanburg that has fish tanks. How close are you? I would like to start some kind of club for the upstate or even SC. PM me if you are interested.

Hi Larry,

That sounds good. What kind of fish do you keep?

I am mostly into dwarf cichlids, angels and a variety of tetras. My dream is to care for discus...many discus. However, that costs money and requires more work/time then I have to spare now. I do some breeding (mostly when I get a new fish) but other wise I only have time to keep my pets happy.

I hope we can exchange many ideas.

Have had quitea few Discus, over time.
I really like Heckels.
What I have now are Apistos, dwarfs and Congo tetras.

The last time I had any discus was about 6 years ago. There were 15 discus in 3 55 gal tanks. Each tank had two dual penguin filters and temp was at 80. I never fooled around w/water parameters since our water here is quite acceptable for discus. I had them for two years without any problems.

One day I fed them in the morning before going to work (as I always did). That night when I stepped in the house this awful ( as in disgusting) sweet smell met me at the door. The smell came form my fish room (converted Laundry room). All 15 fish were dead. Different tanks separate filters....I have never been able to understand this. All the other fish (angels, tetras, barbs..etc) were fine.

I hope to get some more one of these days.
