I am trying to do the artificial hatching.(using instructions from Cathy G`s pages)for my Gold RAms.Looking good the spawn was on a oak leaf and the eggs stuck like glue.Currently fours days old appears to be about 200 looking real heathy eating sack and looking like they could start swimming anytime.I have a towel over the tank right now.Can i put the hood on with 2 25w regular bulbs?I also have a green bulb and a pink 25w bulb. They are in a 10g tank with 3 gallons of distilled water with a gravel bag.

Hi Happy,
I found the best way to light them is with a lamp and full spectrum bulb. This gives enough light for them to find the food without overpowering them. I think your hood/2 bulbs would be too much for them right now. Keep them in indirect lighting until they are at least a month old - unless you are floating tons of plants.
Cathy
P.S As soon as you start feeding them, put in your seeded sponge filter. I've been adding the floating plants about a day or two before they start free swimming. (Or about 2-3 days after hatching.)

Hi I
I get the idea.Added java moss and hornwart and seeded sponge filter ready. They seem to be good parents and are getting ready to spawn again. The other times the gh was 7.2 so they were hatching but not developing proper. Now gh is 3 in the home 10g.
