Hi guys,
I have been trying to try out some apisto in my pond...The concept are :
i will sector out an area of my pon usng arcylic or some plastic stuff...then i will throw the apistos into the pond...

As this pond will be affected by the rainwater as such...do you think the apisto will survive and breed...the idea of sectoring a smaller section is such that they will be able to find their own partners...

thank you

yours sincerely,
Storm

It depends on where you live & the species you will be using. I suggest that you check the temperature at the bottom of any pond before adding apistos. Since most species are from tropical areas the pond temperature should never drop below 20ºC/68ºF, otherwise there is an excellent chance that they will die! Species from the subtropical areas & higher, cooler, elevations are a more likely to survive. I would suggest trying A. borellii, A. trifasciata (from the Rio Paraguay), A. commbrae, A. staecki, & A. luelingi. All can handle cooler temperatures & a wider variety of water values. Some probably will even reproduce under these conditions.
