I just purchased a pair of I. adoketa and while I'm fairly certain the male is indeed a male, I am not quite sure about the "female." At times I feel she definitely resembles a female, at other times I think her markings are incredibly similar to the male. Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with the differences between the genders of this species. Below are some photos of the "female." Any information about its gender is greatly appreciated.

this is an old post indeed ... my other male adoketa was extremely aggressive towards this “female” so after one week I took it back to the store and exchanged it for another adoketa that appeared more certain to be a female. the new pair have been living together peacefully since last September but still no breeding activity. I posted photos of the new pair in another thread:

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
