Hi everyone!
A week ago, my Adoketa fry started swimming. Everything was great, the parents were doing their job perfectly. However, last night, the female jumped out of the tank and died. Now the male is fulfilling his role as father. I think the male attacked the female, and she jumped out through a small crack near the filter. This male had previously killed two females. He's a merciless killer.
What do you recommend: keep the fry or take them before the male eats them? I don't trust him.

Wow! So sorry for such a loss! I did not know they could spawn and then break their relationships off again!

I'm currently looking for a female as I have 2 males who had been sold as a pair. How do you pair them? And just a small question or a service... don't you have a female vent picture? Trying to make sure that the fish I recently found and planning to purchase is really a female.

Thanks

If you want to raise the fry, the safest thing to do is remove the male and any other fish with the fry.

I decided to leave the male with the fry because I didn't have a suitable aquarium for him. The fry are doing well and are growing. The male is a true father and does his job perfectly.

This marks my second failed attempt at breeding *I. adoketa*.
On both occasions, the spawning process proceeded smoothly, with the male and female taking turns laying and fertilizing the eggs.
However, after just about six hours, some of the eggs began to turn a pale white, and this phenomenon gradually spread to the remaining eggs.
The water parameters I recorded were:
- pH: ~6
- TDS: ~63 ppm
- Temperature: 23°C
I used RO water with a low TDS level (~10 ppm).
So, did I do something wrong, or is there an issue with this specific pair of fish?
Thank you for your feedback.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
