I sure would like to see this fish showing more dark markings, especially the vertical bars, but my guess is that it is a female A. sp. Wangenflecken/Cheek-spots.

are the vertical bars stress markings?
if so any point in catching the fish in question and photographing in a bag?

and would the id you have given be a fish from either the reticulosa or catei families?
perhaps that give's my hopes away

Yes, the vertical bars are commonly seen on stressed fish. The "shake & take" photo is an excellent ID tool. And yes, A. sp. Wangenflecken is a member of the resticulosa-complex. Do I see someone interested in breeding Blue-heads?

the fish was in a lfs tank full of apisto blue heads
the owners had asked me if i knew which species they maybe as they didn't recognise them for a common one

another customer had suggested borreli though they werent sure

the tank has had the fish in for approx a month , and i saw this smalest fish in the tank turning yellow, i have her and another male? big blue one that seemed interested in her

any tips on water parameters?

thanks
i will try the shake and take photo for you

It looks like a female of a resticulosa-complex species, but I can't say it is any specific species. The mottled back is strange & it looks like there are some irregularities in the scales above the lateral band. Since I have never seen a female Blue-head/Steel-blue Apisto I can't say for sure that this is what it is.
