hello Todd,

The reason why you might not have had any luck Identifying them is that it is a dwarf cichlid but not an apisto. It looks like it is Nannacara anomala. Commonly called the "golden dwarf cichlid", it is a great little fish and can get nasty towards spawning time. I have kept it for quite some time now, and love these little guys. Your pictures aren't that clear, but I am 99.99% sure it is Nannacara anomala from the sheen on the scales and the general look of the fish. great little fish and gorgeous! best wishes and cheers john

you're welcome Todd . I am sure of it now that it is Nannacara anomala. it is a great fish and full of personality as you said! I simply love them! if you have a female, they aren't that difficult to spawn as I've spawned them in regular tap water here, which is about neutral (ph7). If they do spawn for you, just make sure there is enough hiding space for the male as the female will get very VERY aggressive towards anything that comes near her "nest site."

Hi John, I'll keep my eye out for a female. Thanks for the great advice.
