hey there gang!

I got an really strange idea about live food for my bolivian ram.
I was thinkin about give them live earth worms ( the samm ones or choped) and was wonderin if it's safe to do so. the place I get them from is rally clean from any bad things like fertilizers and other poisoning, the surface is mostly moss and old trees so it's no bad things I guess the earth ph is about 7.5, do u think it's safe?????????

Earthworms are one of the best foods for fish. If you can keep them for a day or 2 in moist coffee groungs or shreds of newpaper, they will clean their guts of any mud they have been eating.

monroe, or
We feed them just minutes from pulling them from the ground. Chop them up with scissors is the easiest.

I have seen a friends oscar tank that he fed earthworms daily, the dirt was clouding the tank, and was very messy looking, even with daily water changes.

wow! I put 1 in worm in the tank and checked how thy took him, at 1st. they where really afraid of it but when I placed no 2 and 3 things started to happen, I droped an granade in the tank serius granade. my rams just took them by the end and split them in half, my loach-es got stuck on on and damn what an canibals ( groas but not so) the platy didn't mind them as well as the cardinals. the colour of the ram just went from pale to really strong just in seconds, how ever it's just an tread for them and after my litle trip I'm having next week it's gona be total live food given and no more flakes.

boohya I hope my rams are gona give me some treads like eggs and fry after that :) :) :) :)

The only reason to clean out the worm's gut is to keep the tank clean. There are no fish pathogen in earthworms that I know about (unlike aquatic worms). Earthworms are a great supplimental diet, but are too high in fat & protein to be used as an every day food.

worms arn't gona be everyday diet, just an treat and some proitne kick for the female and her eggs. How ever I'm gona change from flakes over to live/frosen food
due to how small the loaches are small now I dont think they will be much in the way knowing that they are nigthcretures, and if I feed them enugh they will not got the eggs, cose I've seen how the male ram did to my snail who is about 3 times his size.

last time they got some spawn it didn't even last 3 days and there where no loaches then
