For the past 4 days, the female has pretty much stayed in the coconut shell she shares with the male, he comes out to eat and seems to be protector, chasing off the three blue rams (2 females and one male) that also share this tank, even though they basically keep to the opposite side.

The female did come out this morning to swim around the tank, picking at the subtrate as she swam around and then she darted right back to the shell. Could there be eggs in this shell? The female usually doesn't stay in the shell as she has been for the past few days. If there are eggs, is there a good chance that I will see fry in a few days or will they eat their eggs like my Rams usually do?

I just took a look and the male is outside the shell now, staying by the side of it, as if he's guarding.

What can I expect if there are eggs and they end up producing fry?

sounds like they are definately atleast preparing to spawn but probably have already. expect alot of aggression from them towards the other fish in the tank althought the other fish usually learn pretty quick to away. both parents will guard the fry around the tank as the fry pick at the bogwood/substrate looking for food. try to get some baby brine shrimp to them as this will help them grow quickly, assuming you want to raise the fry. you will probably need a separate grow out tank for them once they get a bit bigger, syphoning them out is probably the easiest way :)

First spawn

When my Kribs first spawned they were in my 75g planted tank. I couldn't believe how agressive they got. The male took over the whole tank and killed almost every fish in it. So you might want to keep an eye on it. I have been told that his behavior is not the norm.
