Hi, everybody.
This morning when I shut down the return pumps in the sump to feed, the feeding frenzy was at first glance as usual. Then I noticed two fish were missing - a male and a female agassizi.
They normally stay a little behind and pick up the flakes the other fish miss, almost seems they are afraid to join in the confusion :)
But today the couple were not below 'the frenzy' waiting for the thiker flakes to fall...
...no sir. She was laying a batch of eggs in the hollow of a hanging root and he was helping, in the same nook, doing what males do...

The eggs are in the shadowy area right behind her tail.

Here's a shot of the proud father. The shadows over the mosses are the reflection of the tripod.
The female can also be seen a little to the back.

Well - so much for 'cave breeders' and coconut shells - and then in the big community tank; couldn't you have done this in the breeding tank...

If there should come anything interesting out of this batch of eggs - I will post right here :)

All the while, I just wanted to share...

Congrats. We'll see how it goes. My rams have spanned twice in the last 4 weeks, and mom ate the eggs or fry both times. Dad was pissed after the last time and has been chasing her around the tank. We'll see if they get it straightened out on the third try.

It's not easy, but possible - to hatch and raise the fry is a small tank/nursery without any adult.
Normally, when the progenitors eat the eggs, it's because they where unfertilized...
