Hi guys,

Been looking at this forum recently and looks like there's a wealth of knowledge on here!
I have been keeping fish for the last few years and have successfully kept both tropical and marine tanks but have never had apistos.
I have recently set-up a new tank which is a black water tank in which I am hoping to house some cacatuoides apistos and I would also love to try my hand at breeding these little guys.
I have plans for having a fish house in which I would love to breed a variety of apistogrammas but for now one tank is all i have room for.
Not really much more to say I guess.

Matt

Question about N. mortenthaleri: Pencilfish in general are usually good companions in Apisto tanks and not as predatory on cichlid fry as most other "tetras", but N. mortenthaleri is far more territorial and aggressive than other pencils. Does this mean it's also more of a threat to Apisto fry, or does its bad attitude toward fellow pencilfish not relate to fry-predation?

I haven't noticed them affecting the apistos and there was an occasion when the female was chasing them away from her hide away before I had to redo my wood structure but I have noticed they do seem quite aggressive towards each other
