Hi all, new to the forum. Just managed to get this pair at a LFS. Was wondering if I got 2 females. It's hard to tell they're still young. they were labeled agassizii.

Probably a pair. Hard to say for sure from these rather poor photos, sorry. How big are they?
Thanks for your reply. Tried to get some better pics.

The one I think is a male is about 4 cm and the one I think is female is about 3 cm. Now that they're not so stressed I think it's a bit clearer but just wanted to check.

At that size they are still a bit sexually immature, but will stick with the idea that they are a pair. Personally, they look obese to me. This can have health problems, just like in people, and lead to shorter lives.

Hi,

How can one tell whether a fish is obese or just full of eggs?

Your male isn't "just full of eggs". People continually damage their pets with kindness by overfeeding - like many of us do to ourselves.

Hi,

Are you getting posts mixed up? I don´t have Agassiziis.
I was just wondering how can one know obesity from eggs on a female?
