Help with Apistogramma ID

I don't know very much about Apistogramma, only that they're beautiful fish I'd love to know more about. So when I found this unmarked Apisto in a tank at my lfs that had supposedly snuck into their order on accident, I snatched it up for a really great price. Only problem is I have no idea what type it is or if it's a male or female. The people at my lfs tried to help me out, but they told me it was an Apistogramma Viejita which I understand is pretty rare. So I'm not convinced, but here are some pictures. The first is when I first got him/her a couple months ago, and the second is now. He/she has grown a little bit and is doing very well.

It looks like a male A. paulmuelleri (aka sp. Masken, Apache, Carapintada ...) to me.

Thanks for the help! I haven't heard of that before, so I'm sure I'll have a hard time finding a female any time soon... but I'm happy to know exactly what he is.

Even if it's not a rare viejita (most are actually mislabeled macmasteri anyway) that's still a really beautiful fish!

Check Aquabid under either Apisto. sp. Masken or Apisto. sp. Apache. They are regularly imported from Peru.
